Do you have sample preparation for Microplastics analysis?

We test samples as-received. The sample must be extracted from the source then the suspected microplastic directly tested in FTIR. We do not offer extraction service. But we can assist you in manually separating the suspected microplastics, we have here optical microscope if you need. You can manually separate using tweezer the suspected microplastic by viewing the filtered specimen in an optical microscope or if it is visible by naked eye you can easily pick it up, then send the suspected microplastic to us for FTIR analysis. Make sure that after filtration the sample will be dried so that you can easily pick up the sample (suspected microplastic). One particle is equivalent to one sample (1 suspected microplastic). You can also do simple filtration and choose the desired particle or suspected microplastic sample for FTIR.

When to avail FTIR ATR Method and FTIR Microscopy Method?

For the identification of samples with size 5mm and above, we use the FTIR ATR method. For samples less than 5mm in size, we use FTIR Microscope. FTIR Microscopy is also used for non-destructive analysis and identification of contaminant or unknown material on metallic or non-polymeric material.
